I currently have a (relatively) old Panasonic Lumix FZ-30 that I’ve been using a lot since we moved. 8MP, 12x Zoom. (Raw format just before Apple started supporting the Lumix 🙁 ).

I’m seriously thinking about investing in a Nikon COOLPIX P900. 83X zoom (!!), 16MP, Wifi, and GPS support. I’m obviously (as my photos show) enamored with zoom. I also would really like the GPS support. Manually tagging stuff is way more work than I’m likely to do.

Any thoughts?

Plus, it supports Pet Mode. I kid you not. ❝ Nikon’s new Pet mode, available in select models, lets you capture the expressions of your pet cat or dog automatically. When the Pet scene mode is chosen, the camera automatically releases the shutter at the moment the pet’s face is detected. Because the subject is tracked and the picture taken when it looks directly toward the camera, you won’t miss the right moment to shoot
