Today’s #joinindaily theme with Johnny Wills is “Looking Up.” Two separate #trees that self-grafted to each other. I first spotted them when I was a kid. The last time I saw them though they’d finally broken apart.
I’m Kee Hinckley (he/his). That’s my wife Mollie Pepper on the right. I’m a senior software architect at TiVo Corp (I get the metadata from point A to point B) with a BA in Anthropology. Mollie’s a sociologist with a couple Masters and a PhD on the way; she specializes in borders, gender, and violence. I have two kickass daughters. Shireen Hinckley is a film editor and documentarian currently working on a movie on refugee resettlement, Home Is Where the War Is. Shadi Fotouhi is a QA automation expert at Wayfair (and formerly at robotics firm Jibo), and an amazing artist.

Purposefully weakened federal regulations. States and companies hiding data. This is how they murder workers. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/national/genetic-science-coronavirus-outbreak-iowa/?p9w22b2p=b2p22p9w00098&no_nav=true&tid=a_classic-iphone
When you think of Nazis, you probably think of uniformed officers. But the Nazis were a political party of everyday people. So also think of a janitor tsk-tsking that someone wasn’t protesting “the right way.” A student at rally applauding him. A judge towing the party line.
No one talks about this janitor, Jakob Schmid. He got a cash reward and a promotion for turning in Sophie and Hans. The University of Munich threw him a celebration. Hundreds of students attended and cheered for him. He thanked them with a Nazi salute.
One day, we were all someone else, waking up in new bodies. The rich became poor; some poor became rich. Strangers became family. Each day it happened again. The world changed quickly after that. The only way to make sure you'd have any power tomorrow was to give it all up today.
